SANDRA MALKIN SPEAKS TO THE NATIONAL BUSINESS INSTITUTE ON OIL & GAS LEASES
On February 28, 2013, Sandra Malkin was a speaker at the National Business Institute’s program “Fracking Law: From Land Contract Negotiations to Environmental Disputes”. Ms. Malkin’s presentation was entitled Oil & Gas Lease Ownership/Challenges and Disputes.

LEVENE GOULDIN & THOMPSON ATTORNEYS RECEIVE NARO ACCREDITATION
Scott Kurkoski and Caroline Vadala have achieved their Certificates of Accreditation as Professional Minerals and Royalty Asset Managers from the National Association of Royalty Owners (NARO). Levene Gouldin & Thompson has four of New York State’s seven NARO certified mineral mangers. Sandra Malkin and Cynthia Manchester received their certifications in 2011. Mineral managers are certified in the analysis of paystubs and division orders seen in the production phase of oil and gas development. Through NARO’s professional level mineral manager program, professionals are recognized for their skill in the management of oil, gas and other minerals.

On January 2, 2013, Levene Gouldin & Thompson opened a Bradford County office in Athens, Pennsylvania. The firm’s Oil and Gas group and its staff of 20 Pennsylvania admitted attorneys are excited about providing their Pennsylvania clients with a convenient location to serve their oil and gas related needs.

SCOTT KURKOSKI ADDRESSES NARO CONVENTION IN DALLAS, TEXAS
On November 2, 2012, Scott Kurkoski was a featured speaker in Dallas, Texas at the National Association of Royalty Owners Annual Convention. Mr. Kurkoski discussed town attempts to ban oil and gas development in New York and other states, the consequences of bans and methods to defend against them.

LEVENE GOULDIN & THOMPSON WINS FORCE MAJEURE CASE AGAINST CHESAPEAKE
On November 15, 2012 United States District Judge David Hurd granted Levene Gouldin & Thompson’s motion for summary judgment on behalf of the plaintiffs in Aukema vs Chesapeake Appalachia, LLC and Statoilhydro USA Onshore Properties. Judge Hurd terminated oil and gas leases that had been extended by Chesapeake on grounds of force majeure. The motion was argued by Cindy Manchester on August 30, 2012.
